The ingredients needed to make Khaman Dhokla:
  1. Get 1 bowl Gram flour
  2. Take 2 tb sp semolina
  3. Get 2 tb sp curd
  4. Take To taste salt
  5. Take 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  6. Prepare 1 tsp sugar
  7. Get 1 bowl water
  8. Get 1/2 tsp baking powder
  9. Take 1/2 tsp soda bi carb
  10. Take Tadka
  11. Make ready 1 tb sp cooking oil
  12. Make ready 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  13. Take 4-6 curry leaves
  14. Take 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  15. Take 1 tb sp coconut powder
  16. Get 1 tb sp lemon juice
  17. Prepare 2 slit green chilli
  18. Take 1 tb sp sesame seeds
  19. Prepare 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  20. Prepare 1/2 tsp sugar
  21. Take 1 bowl water
  22. Take Other
  23. Prepare Tomato ketchup
Steps to make Khaman Dhokla:
  1. Mix gram flour, semolina, curd, turmeric powder, sugar, water and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Beat the mixture thoroughly. There should not be any lump. Make it a smooth batter by beating well. Keep aside for 30 minutes.
  3. Now heat 2 bowls of water in a big karahi. Place a stand inside. Grease a thali.
  4. Put all the batter in greased thali. Pat it and place it on stand in karahi. Place a lid over it. Steam on medium flame for 20 minutes. Take knife test. If knife comes clean it means it is ready.
  5. Remove the thali from karahi and let it cool for 10 minutes. With the help of knife remove Dhokla from edge of thali. Then place another plate over it and turn it upside down. Tap it on back. Dhokla will come on other plate. Cut it in desired shape.
  6. Now prepare tadka. Heat 1 tb sp oil and put mustard seeds and when mustard seeds splutter add asafoetida and saute for 1 minute. Now add curry leaves, split green chilli and sesame seeds. Sauté for 1 minute. Add 1 tsp sugar and 1 tb sp lemon juice and 2 bowls of water. When water boils switch off the flame.
  7. Pour this Tadka on Dhokla. Dhokla will absorb the water and it will be fluffy.
  8. Serve garnished with coconut powder.
