Steps to Prepare Favorite Mapo tofu

Hello everybody, it’s me again, Dan, welcome to our recipe site. Today, we’re going to prepare a special dish, mapo tofu. One of my favorites. This time, I am going to make it a bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Mapo tofu is one of the most favored of recent trending foods on earth. It’s appreciated by millions every day. It’s simple, it is quick, it tastes delicious. They are nice and they look fantastic. Mapo tofu is something that I’ve loved my whole life.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can cook mapo tofu using 13 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Mapo tofu:
  1. Get 1 block soft or medium soft tofu (cut up into cubes)
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp corn flour (optional)
  3. Prepare 200 g mince beef or pork or chicken
  4. Make ready 2 tsp soysauce
  5. Make ready 2 tsp grated ginger (or ginger powder)
  6. Make ready 1 tsp sugar
  7. Take 1 tsp sesame oil
  8. Get 1 spring onions (finely chopped)
  9. Take 1 clove garlic (finely chopped)
  10. Prepare 2 tbsp vegetable cooking oil
  11. Prepare Ground black pepper
  12. Make ready 1 tsp spicy Bean paste (optional)
  13. Prepare 2 tsp chilli oil (can check my recipe)
Steps to make Mapo tofu:
  1. Coated your tofu lightly with corn flour then leave them aside. On medium heat non stick pan, add vegetable cooking oil in. Once your oil hot add tofu in and leave them cook for 5 min (don’t try to turn at this point) once you see tofu crisp up at the bottom you can start to turn them over and this is help tofu not get stuck on the pan and come off easily.
  2. Cook for another 5-8 min on the other side and remove you tofu on a plate lay with kitchen towel.
  3. Same pan, add garlic, stir well then add mince beef, soysauce, grated ginger, spicy bean paste, sugar and chilli oil.
  4. Add tofu back in and add some sesame seeds, sprinkle on top with spring onions and stir well. Ps.this is chilli bean paste I use (photo attached)
  5. Serve with some cooked jasmine rice. It’s so delicious and comforting.
